As believers we are like jars of clay containing God’s power, or as Elizabeth Elliot puts it “receptacles of Grace”. Here I filmed myself making a little pot of clay. I don’t have a spinning wheel so my jar has many imperfections, which I think aligns perfectly with the sense of the passage.
The jar of clay is inherently and historically an imperfect artifact. The attention is shifted to what is inside. Likewise, it’s not about us. It’s not about our ability to do great things. It’s about resting in God’s presence and relying on His strength. Only once I understood this and started truly applying it, have I experienced growth and true blessings in my life.
